Two Individuals Accused In Connection With Heathrow ‘Pepper Spray’ Assault
Two men have been charged related to a luggage theft where a suspected capsaicin spray resulted in harm at the UK's busiest airport.
Tyrone Richards, 31, and Anton Clarke-Butcher, 24, have both been charged with two robbery charges and charges for deploying a toxic agent, according to official statements.
The charges follow an investigation into an assault at the multi-storey car park at Terminal 3 on Sunday. Prior to the attack, two female travelers had their suitcases stolen after exiting a parking garage elevator, police said.
A toddler was caught up in the incident in the event. A total of five individuals required hospital care and were eventually allowed to go home.
This event – which authorities stated was not part of a series and not being treated as terrorism – led to disruptions to rail services and the partial closure of the main airport road tunnel and the T3 parking area for a short time.
