Official's Announcement

“Our thoughts reach out to each UPSer who has been impacted and all in our local community – assisting you and making sure you obtain the care and aid you need is our priority,” the organization’s communication stated.

Probe Updates

Government investigators revealed that the jet’s wing caught fire and an engine fell off shortly after takeoff from the airfield, resulting in the aircraft to fall and erupt into a blaze.

The NTSB stated it is probing the aircraft’s service record, that was in the state for maintenance several weeks ahead of the crash.

Flight tracking information revealed the aircraft was on the tarmac in San Antonio, Texas from early September to last week.

“We are cognizant that this plane was there in that city,” said an investigator on later, not giving a precise date range. “We will examine every piece of service that was done, including the repair visit, right up to the day of the journey.”

Retrieval of Critical Items

The cockpit voice recorder and data recorder were found, and the motor was located on the runway.

The units – known as black boxes – were designed to withstand accident forces and intense fire from blazes, and they looked to be in one piece when located within the crash debris. Officials plan on analyzing data from the black boxes.

The plane’s concluding flight details displayed an elevation of 475 ft and a speed of 210 miles per hour prior to the accident.

Maintenance History

According to aviation authority records from 18 September, a crack on a structural piece within the tank area demanded maintenance.

Singapore-based ST Engineering, which said it provides structural repairs for UPS’s MD-11 and manages a maintenance center in Texas, chose not to speak, but said it would cooperate fully when investigators contacted it.

Services Restart

At the same time, UPS Worldport operations resumed Wednesday night with its express or evening operation, representative the company official confirmed. Each of the three tarmacs at the aviation hub were additionally reopened.

The sorting center in Louisville is the firm’s largest. The facility hires more than a large number of people in the locality, handles numerous aircraft per day and processes in excess of a huge volume of items each hour.

Local Reaction

A gathering was organized on the evening of 6 November by the regional worker’s group, which acts for employees at the airfield, the company’s primary shipping facility.

Worker representatives, which supports UPS workers, commenced the memorial with a period of reflection at 5.14pm, the approximate time of the accident two days earlier.

“This tragedy was so unexpected, so unforeseen,” the leader spoke to the group of two hundred. “No one had a chance to say goodbye to each of those who we have mourned.”
