19 of the Russian's 21 victories have been won on hard courts

A comeback Medvedev secured his first championship for over two years with a win over opponent Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.

Medvedev, a ex- world number one, has experienced a challenging year, managing just a single victory at the Grand Slams and experiencing a meltdown at the New York tournament.

Medvedev's unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and struggles with his serve in specific - resulted in him dropping out of the world's top 10 and eventually splitting with long-term trainer his previous coach.

Presently working with Johansson and Goetzke, Medvedev has steadily progressed in the last few weeks - peaking in a hard-fought competitive victory over Frenchman Moutet.

This represents his first trophy since the Rome competition and maiden on a hardcourt after spring of 2023.

The win also signifies the Russian has achieved 21 titles at twenty-one various competitions.

"It's the first time I'm at a event with my two daughters together, so to secure a championship is particularly special," said ranked player Medvedev.

"This victory is in tribute of my younger daughter my daughter, because the initial championship I achieved when my first daughter her name was born was for her."

The tennis star, the past champion, had lost his past six championship matches, including in the German tournament previously this season.

Medvedev's retrieving approach and recurring outbursts on the playing surface had prompted commentators to wonder if his capacity to perform at the top level was over.

However the player has altered his approach in recent weeks, attempting to advance forward and perform aggressively, backed up by an enhanced serve.

He fought back from a break down in the initial set against the difficult Frenchman, securing 4 of the concluding five points to take the lead.

The pair swapped break points in the following set before the challenger, attempting for his first professional victory, gained dominance to create a decider.

Moutet defended 4 early-game opportunities in a tight deciding set before the champion broke to 15 to secure the win.

Fittingly, the winner clinched the title with a point at the net area, with the Frenchman incapable to handle a shot after a lengthy match.
