Kansas City Chiefs Acknowledge Alleged Abuse Allegations Connected to Player the Athlete

The Kansas City Chiefs released a comment on Wednesday evening stating they have knowledge of domestic violence allegations made public in online accounts by a ex-partner of player the athlete and had been in communication with the NFL.

The organization did not mention Rice by name in their announcement and said they would have “no further comment at this time”.

Allegations Posted on Instagram

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who likewise did not name Rice directly, shared a set of images on Instagram that appeared to show signs of physical abuse. She stated the person involved was the father of her children, and reports indicate she has two children with the football player, whom the Chiefs drafted in the second round.

Official Complaints Reportedly Not on File

No police reports were available in Overland Park, Kansas where the incident is said to have taken place.

Player's Recent Off-Field Troubles

The receiver missed the initial part of this season following an NFL suspension for his role in causing a crash on a Texas roadway that resulted in multiple people hurt. He was given 30 days in jail and five years’ probation after pleading guilty to felony charges.

On the field, he concluded the year with 53 catches for 571 yards and five TDs as the Chiefs finished 6-11 and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first time in a ten-year span.
